Get a new operating system
Things move fast in the computer world. In fact, when it comes to computer technology, the year 2002 seems like ancient history.
Moving to a modern operating system (Windows XP for PCs and OS 10 Panther for Macs) gives you benefits in system speed, operating efficiency, system protection and general ease of use.
Be sure to check the OS system requirements and your computer's processor speed before you upgrade.
Add more ram
RAM (random access memory, or the part of your computer that processes information) is cheap and will greatly improve the speed and efficiency of your computer.

Adding a larger hard drive
Installing an additional hard drive can be tricky, depending on how comfortable you are with opening your computer and ensuring all the BIOS settings are correct.
